6 DIY Pumpkin Decor Ideas
Sharing six, super cheap & easy pumpkin decor ideas for Halloween!
Happy Monday my loves! Last week I spent some time painting and decorating pumpkins, I fell into a bit of a Pinterest hole the other day and was amazed at some of the designs I came across! I so miss getting creative so thought I'd try my hand at designing a few myself, I kept costs super low (because hello mortgage savings!), and spent some time decorating six pumpkins!
Here's a step by step of my designs and a how-to in case you'd like to give them a whirl in time for Halloween!...
What you'll need:
1.) Two large pumpkins - I picked mine up from ASDA for £1.50 each | 2.) Four smaller pumpkins - again from ASDA; 75p each | 3.) Dulux Roller Tester paint pots; £1.79 each - colours I used (all matt): Chic Shadow (pale grey), Timeless(off white), Overtly Olive (pale green), Sapphire Salute (blue), Soft Peach (pale orange) | 4.) All sequins, paint, glue and decorative items were from The Range (nothing cost more than £5 per item). 5.) some paintbrushes - I already had these in my craft kit, but you don't need anything fancy so just pick up some cheap ones from The Range or Wilko when picking up your decorative items!
I selected some strong glue, some gold paint, some rose gold glitter, a selection of sequins, stick on glitter circles (super easy to stick on - I decorated my small grey pumpkin using these and they looked so good!), along with some decorative items such as coloured flowers. I picked up the glitter leaves (on the small green pumpkin) from Wilko.
Step 1: paint your pumpkins!...
I wasn't sure how the Dulux Roller Testers would work as the pumpkins are obviously curved, but to be honest they were perfect for painting them! Super quick and easy to use, I gave every pumpkin 3 coats to make sure they were fully covered. Just paint the top halves, wait for them to dry and flip the over to paint the bottom, repeat 3 times until they're fully covered and voila, step 1 done!
I went for a mixture of colours, mostly pastel shades and one darker blue, I've linked the colours above that I used but obviously feel free to use whatever colours you like for this! The Dulux Roller Testers were great for this project as they were only £1.79 each (I used one pot per pumpkin so picked up six colour testers), and they were so easy to use!
step 2: decorate your pumpkins!...
Now it's time for the fun part - the decorate your pumpkins!! Here's what I did with my pumpkins!...
Blue pumpkin: I splattered gold paint to give it a feel of the stars/space, then added gold sequins from the stem.
Cream pumpkin: I dabbed gold paint onto the pumpkin then sprinkled rose gold glitter on top of the paint.
Large green pumpkin: Using the strong glue I picked up I randomly stuck on the coloured flowers, then added sequin clusters to the centre of the flowers.
Small green pumpkin: I stuck glitter leaves that I picked up from Wilko around the pumpkin stem in a fan.
Peach pumpkin: I painted the stem gold and stuck random rose gold sequin clusters around the pumpkin.
Grey pumpkin: I randomly stuck on some glitter dots that I picked up from The Range (they stuck on so easily & looked great!).
There we have it gang - my pumpkin decorating post! I'm already sad to decorate next years haha! I've loved getting creative again and am already thinking of some Christmas craft posts that I can work on! If there's anything you'd like to see let me know!
Have you decorated your pumpkins this year? Is this something you'd love to do? Did you take any inspo from these designs?
*This post was NOT sponsored in any way, I bought all the products myself and am recommending them from personal experience and use!
