16 FREE (and affordable) things to do in Singapore

Sharing my top FREE (and affordable) things to do in Singapore!...

One of my followers messaged me whilst I was in Singapore last week and said that they were gutted to miss out Singapore on their travels of Asia "because it was too expensive", and I'm here to de-bunk that myth!Don't get me wrong; you can spend as little or as much as you want in Singapore - with 52 Michelin starred restaurants and some of the worlds most luxurious hotels, you sure can spend as much as you want to in Singapore! However, my trip was more at the budget end of the scale and I was really keen to set out and see what amazing activities were on offer for free, or for a small fee - I've rounded up my top 16 things to do in Singapore if you're also on a budget, I hope you find this post useful!

1.) Watch the Gardens By The Bay light show for FREE - showing each evening at 7.45 & 8.45 - well worth visiting!

2.) Visit the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple in Chinatown - a beautiful temple well worth a trip!

3.) Visit Singapore's latest attraction; The Jewel at Changi Airport - featuring the world's largest indoor waterfall, a spectacle!

4.) Explore Chinatown; one of my favourite districts in Singapore; you'll get a real feel for culture here, be able to buy some wonderful souvenirs and enjoy affordable, local cuisine!

5.) Visit the shops at MBS (Marina Bay Sands is such an incredible building and something you NEED to see when visiting Singapore, every shop you can imagine, theatres, a casino, restaurants, salons & so much more - even if you're browsing it's worth a visit!)

6.) Visit the Sultan Mosque in Kampong Glam - FREE to enter!

7.) Enjoy live music for FREE outside MBS - I sat and enjoyed some local music one evening on Bayfront Boulevard outside of MBS and it was a lovely way to spend a few hours!

8.) Dine like a local at one of Singapore's many Hawker Centres; my favourites are: Newton, Maxwell, Lau Pa Sat & Chinatown. Food & drink start from as little as $1 (approx 60p!)

9.) Book a FREE experience with Singapore Rewards - sign up to Singapore Rewards for a FREE activity during your trip (to qualify you need to be arriving in Singapore by flight and on a short stay vacation) - I opted for the sustainable coaster making class and it was so much fun!

10.) Explore the city by foot; my favourite way to explore Singapore is by walking everywhere - you see SO much more of the city and think of all the gems you'd have missed on public transport!

11.) Enjoy a beautiful sunset across the city from Bayfront Boulevard (outside MBS)

12.) Visit Meomi Cat Cafe in the Kampong Glam district ($14SGD entry including one drink), a must for all cat lovers!

13.) Visit the vibrant Kampong Glam district; the Malay-Muslim district in Singapore is full of so much colour and culture you'll not want to miss this! Haji Lane & Arab Street are a must!

14.) Dine like a local at Zam Zam in the Kampong Glam district - try their Murtabak (I had the beef and it was delicious!), my meal cost just £4.80 including a drink!

15.) Visit the colonial (and very beautiful) Raffles Hotel, you can visit the courtyard for FREE to take a look around the gardens and a little more of the hotel!

16.) Walk along Marina Boulevard for a wonderful view of MBS, the Art Science Museum, the city & so much more (it looks wonderful at night too!). *Another thing to note is that the MRT is SUPER affordable, I took around 12-14 journeys and spent just £6 over four days so it's a great way to get around the city on a budget!
