Where? Fritton Lake, Beccles Rd, Fritton, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, NR31 9HA

Last week Ben and I packed our bags and jumped in the car for an overnight stay at the beautiful Fritton Lake, just over an hour from us and based on the Norfolk / Suffolk border - it really was the ideal spot for a UK getaway!

Let's dive into why this place is so special!...

Arrival and our room...

Fritton Lake is set in a stunning 1,000 acres of rewilding land, made up of luxury cabins and cottages, a clubhouse, 22m swimming pool, 2-mile long wild lake and so much more!

Ben and I checked into our room in the clubhouse; we stayed in the Lady Scott room (one of 8 rooms in the clubhouse), decked out with beautiful furnishings, a beautiful view and eco-friendly toiletries.

Alternative to the clubhouse rooms, you'll also find luxury cabin retreats and farmhouse cottages at Fritton Lake; which are perfect for families and bigger groups! New for 2021 are the 'Ki' and 'Miru' Koto cabins (2 and 3 beds), which look absolutely stunning and perfect for a break reconnecting with nature!

Recreation...

Fritton Lake is the perfect place to unwind, relax by the 22m heated outdoor pool with a pool, or take a dip in the lake for a spot of wild swimming! Don't forget to book a 20 minute slot in the floating sauna with panoramic views too (it's great to alternate between the lake swimming & sauna - we loved it!).

You'll also find paddle boarding, tennis, canoeing, a kids playground plus the beautiful grounds if you fancy exploring the lake!

Food: The Clubhouse

The Clubhouse used to be the old farmhouse but has now been turned into a boutique 8 bedroom hotel and restaurant. We enjoyed lunch and dinner on arrival and breakfast before we left at The Clubhouse and each meal was delicious.

With ingredients used from the grounds of Fritton Lake or locally sourced, everything was so fresh and tasteful! Our favourite meal had to be dinner; we enjoyed our evening meal outside during the sunset with a bottle of Provence rose and it was an evening we'll never forget!

P.s their hot chocolates are to die for if you fancy cosying up by the fire with a good book & hot drink!

Rewilding...

Fritton Lake is at the forefront of an exciting rewilding project across the East Anglia. Fritton have committed to giving 1,000 acres to the cause, allowing the land to rewild and in turn improve our natural ecosystem as well as protect and restore nature.

We were lucky enough to go on a foraging tour with Mathew during our stay at Fritton Lake, it was so wonderful to learn about the WildEast rewilding project first hand.

You can find more about the WildEast project and how you can get involved HERE.
