10 Things To Do In Saint Lucia
Planning a trip to Saint Lucia? I'm sharing my top things to do during your stay on this magical island!
Good afternoon my loves - coming at you today with my second post about Saint Lucia!! I published my hotel review the other day of the Sandals Grande St. Lucian and wanted to share a little more today about the beautiful island of Saint Lucia and what we got up to during our magical six days on the island!
Whether you’re staying at Sandals or not (which I’d highly recommend by the way - there’s 3 on the island and they have a “stay at one, play at three programme” where you can use all three resorts during your stay!), then I’m sure you’ll be looking forward to exploring Saint Lucia and everything the majestic island has to offer!
Well look no further my loves as I’ve absolutely got you covered! I’ve rounded up my top 10 things to do on the island, whether you’re looking to take a nice relaxing boat trip up the west coast, dining at Hotel Chocolat or climbing to the top of Pigeon Island (making that sound *way harder than it actually is, it only takes around 15/20 minutes but the view is amazing!!).
Let’s do this - my top 10 things to do in Saint Lucia!...
- 1.) Stay at Sandals: Of course I’m biased because we stayed at the beautiful Sandals Grande St. Lucian resort but TRUST me when I say I wouldn’t recommend it if I didn’t love it. In fact I loved it so much that Ben and I are saving up to book our personal holiday with Sandals next year!
Staying at Sandals is a great way to have a ‘gentle tour’ of the island as through their stay at one, play at three programme you can visit all three resorts (all within half an hour of each other). It’s a great way to see the island and get a feel for each resort, as although they’re quite clearly a part of the Sandals family, they’re all so unique and beautiful in their own way!2.) Climb Pigeon Island: If you’re staying at Sandals Grande St. Lucian then Pigeon Island is right next to the resort (literally a two minute walk), set on its own peninsula, it’s well worth exploring! Set in 44 acres, there’s a private beach, some incredible ruins (where they host weddings & parties) which are worth visiting, you can also climb to the top of the smaller peak (it’s a fairly easy climb and takes around 15/20 minutes!), the view from the top is amazing!! It’s a great viewpoint to see the beautiful island of Saint Lucia!
(Pigeon Island is pictured on the left behind us).
The incredible view of Sandals Grande St. Lucian and Saint Lucia from Pigeon Island!
3.) Take a boat trip with The Moorings: Ahhhh my favourite thing we did on the island was hire a catamaran with The Moorings in the south of Saint Lucia (close to the Piton mountains), and sail along the west coast back to our hotel in the north. We stopped off to snorkel for around half hour as the sun was setting and it was such a magical afternoon!
We had such a fun afternoon, shooting pictures and watching the sunset! I wrapped myself in my cardigan and took half hour to myself round the back of the boat to watch the sun go down - it was so peaceful and beautiful! Our captain was incredible and this would be great for a private tour or a group of friends - I’d highly recommend The Moorings if you're looking to book a boat trip, they were such a great company!!
4.) Go zip lining: We’d planned to go zip lining during our trip but sadly it wasn’t open on the day we visited.. BUT although we didn’t do it I wanted to recommend it as I’ve seen pictures / videos and it looks SO cool! Definitely a great way to explore a little more of the island and see it from a different angle!
5.) Visit the Toraille waterfall: I’d definitely recommend visit the Toraille waterfall in the town of Soufriere if you get the chance. Toraille isn’t like any waterfall I’ve been to before; we all expected it to be packed full of tourists but when we arrived mid afternoon; there was only four people there, who only stayed around five minutes to take their pictures then we had the place to ourselves for around half an hour to get pictures and take a quick dip (it was pretty cold!!).
It was so nice to be able to appreciate the waterfall in peace and quiet as any waterfall I’ve ever visited before has been so full of tourists it kind of takes away from the beauty of the attraction! A must visit if you have time!
6.) Piton mountains: The Pitons stand at 771m and 743m and are a sight to behold! The best view of the Pitons in my opinion is from the water, we had such a great view of them from our boat day with The Moorings! If you're feeling brave you can hike the mountains too!
7.) Have lunch at Hotel Chocolat: One of my favourite things we did in Saint Lucia (naturally!!). We stopped off at Hotel Chocolat for lunch and oh my GOD it was amazing!! Chocolate cocktails? Check! Chocolate bread dips? Check! Chocolate everything? Check! This place was insaneeeeee - they incorporated cacao into every part of the menu, which was super interesting to see how they did just that! It surprisingly wasn’t too sweet or sickly as they had blended the flavours so well!
Oh and the best part? Hotel Chocolat has a direct view over the Piton mountains which is pretty bloody breathtaking - the perfect spot for some lunch!
8.) Check out Castries local market: Castries is the local town in Saint Lucia and is worth driving through/ walking around to check out. You’ll need an hour max to have a wander around but it’s great to explore. We visited the market on a Saturday and it's great for picking up souvenirs and gifts!
9.) Visit the sulphur springs & mud baths: Hold your noses for this one guys! Haha no honestly it’s not that bad (if you’ve been to the blue lagoon it’s exactly the same!). Check out the sulphur springs (get a guide if you can!); ours was super informative and interesting! Then head to the mud baths to cover yourself in the mud (apparently it knocks 10 years off of you.. still waiting for mine to disappear haha!).
10.) Visit the Jump Up street party: On our first night in Saint Lucia we headed to the Jump Up street party after dinner (kind of like a carnival vibe), and it was SO fun! At first we all felt like everyone was waiting around for someone to start dancing (yup, exactly like a school disco, aged 9 haha!), but once the party started flowing it was so fun! The street party is free and so worth checking out, head down for a couple of drinks and a dance - you'll have a great night! It's also a great way to get an authentic St Lucian feel of the island!
There we have it - my top things to do during your trip to the island of Saint Lucia! I'd love to know if you're heading to this magical island in the Caribbean soon and what you're planning to do there - did you get any tips from this post?
If you're visiting then I hope you have the BEST time, and if you're thinking of visiting then GO FOR IT - you'll love it!
*A HUGE thank you to Sandals and Saint Lucia Tourism for inviting me on this wonderful press trip, all opinions and images as always are my own.
