17 Reasons Why A Trip To Cornwall With Boutique Retreats NEEDS To Be Your Next Vacation
17 reasons why you NEED to visit Cornwall this summer and sharing snaps from our wonderful stay at Whistler's View in St. Ives!
Where we stayed: Whistler's View, St. Ives, Cornwall - booked via Boutique Retreats
Having just got back from another EPIC family holiday to Cornwall last night; I wanted to publish this post whilst everything was still fresh in my mind from our break!
Last year I took my dad and step mum to Cornwall for their joint 60th birthday present (check out my post HERE); we stayed in the beautiful Mebyn cottage which we booked via Boutique Retreats.
We had the most amazing weekend away and vowed there and then to make it a annual family tradition! Cornwall is honestly unlike anywhere in the UK that I've ever been; it really is one of those places where you feel like you could be abroad, from the stunning coast lines, incredible cuisine to the cute seaside towns! We've been super lucky both years and had sunshine which absolutely makes the trip; we're already planning our trip for next Summer!
This year we spent three nights at the stunning Whistler's View in St. Ives - Ben came along with us this year for another magical weekend in Cornwall. It was everyone's first time in St. Ives and all four of us were blown away by it's beauty!
I wanted to share our weekend in Cornwall in hopes that it encourages you to book a break this summer to Cornwall (I PROMISE you won't regret it!), and to show you the incredible properties that Boutique Retreats look after, including our home for the weekend; Whistler's View! Let's kick this post off with a look at the property!...
PIN ME:
A closer look at Whistler's View in St. Ives; a beautiful 4 bedroom property by the seaside and 17 reasons why Boutique Retreats/Cornwall should be your next summer vacation!...
1.) A room with a view: The 'Lookout' was the room at the top of our house, designed for children and two single beds; but THE most incredible view (see picture above!). The room had a big sky window that opened out to a full view of St. Ives - bliss!
2.) True traditional Cornish decor: One of my favourite things about Whistler's View was the beautiful, Cornish decor - I truly felt like the owners had absolutely encapsulated 'Cornwall' into the house! Everything about the decor screamed seaside but in the most elegant, tasteful way! I was truly inspired by the decoration for when Ben and I move out!
3.) Outdoor terrace: The house had a really lovely outdoor terrace (which had the sunshine until around 4pm everyday), we'd sit out on the terrace every morning and have our breakfast and coffee's - the view over St. Ives from the terrace was magical!
4.) The space: Whistler's View is suitable for 8 people (6 adults and 2 children), and the house was so spacious! The lounge had two big sofas and an armchair and the kitchen had a big bench style table which was perfect for family dinners in! We honestly felt like Whistler's View was the perfect from home in Cornwall!
5.) The location: The house was situated at the top of a hill in St. Ives and just a few minute walk from both St. Ives Harbour and Porthmeor Beach! A HUGE array of restaurants, cafes and cute shops - there's everything you could need for your Cornish vacation right there in St. Ives!
6.) The Value:You can book Whistler's View from £1,336 for a long weekend or mid week break - the property can accommodate for 8 people (6 adults and 2 children), I think the property is great value for the amount of people it holds! It's a beautifully designed and spacious house - the perfect spot for your next summer getaway!
7.) Quality accommodation: This was our second time that we'd booked accommodation through Boutique Retreats and I have to say that it's by far my new favourite booking site; it's completely apparent to me that all properties listed on the site have to be of a certain standard and you know that you're getting the best quality of accommodation when you book!
8.) Suitable for children: Whistler's View is suitable for children if you're looking to book an escape with little'uns! The Lookout room is designed for children with two single beds, smart TV and a playstation - there will be plenty to keep the kids happy if the weather isn't on your side!
9.) A bathtub for two: I mean, a bath tub for two - need I say anymore?! The perfect way to unwind!
10.) The BEST house for quality family time: I honestly can't begin to tell you how many amazing memories we made this weekend! From breakfast on our terrace in the sunshine, to wandering around St. Ives and checking out the local pubs, watching the sunsets, lazy afternoons on the beach, boozy BBQ's and just ALL of the laughs - we didn't stop laughing from the moment we got there; Whistler's View and St. Ives will always be my happy place!
All four of us loved St. Ives so much that we're already planning to stay there next year for our annual Cornish trip!
Our beautiful welcome hamper that we were greeted with on Friday - how cute?!
The beautiful view of St. Ives harbour from The Lookout room at the top of the house!
Now we've covered the house; I wanted to share some more tips on why you should book a trip to Whistler's View/St.Ives this summer and what you'll find in the surrounding areas that's worth visiting!...
The Minack Theatre Trust CIO Porthcurno, Penzance
Cornwall, TR19 6JU
The Minack Theatre was just a 50 minute drive from Whistler's View and hands down the most breathtaking place I've visited in Cornwall!
The outdoor theatre was built back in 1931, when Rowena Cade; who lived in Minack House, decided to build an outdoor theatre in her back garden with her gardener Billy (crazy, huh?!).
The theatre is WELL worth a visit and will truly blow you away; the views are simply stunning and the theatre in itself is a work of art!
You can still watch shows at the Minack Theatre too (we didn't get around to it this weekend but it's 100% on our list for next years trip!).
Land's End, Sennen, Penzance TR19 7AA
After spending the morning wandering around the Minack Theatre we drove for around 15 minutes to Lands End. We thought that we couldn't possibly going that far down the coast in Cornwall without a visit to Lands End!
Although it was fairly touristy; I thought it was so cool to see and definitely one to tick off the bucket list!
From Lands End we took a 10 minute drive to Sennen Cove for the afternoon; I have to say it's one of my favourite beaches in Cornwall!
The sea was bright turquoise; the beach was big enough to wander and explore but still also fairly quiet and well hidden! The coast line was beautiful and the waves were perfect if you're looking to surf!
We found a restaurant called The Old Success Inn where we stopped of for some delicious lunch (I had a fish finger burger and it was just SO fresh!). They have lots of live music in the evenings too; if you're heading to Sennen Cove then 100% check out The Old Success Innas it was such a lovely pub!
We spent the afternoon lazing around on the beach at Sennen Cove in the sunshine and it was honestly the most perfect afternoon - I'd highly recommend a visit!
St Michael's Mount, Marazion, TR17 0HS
On our second full day in Cornwall we took a drive to St Michael's Mount (only 30 minutes from Whistler's View), which was so beautiful! You can walk from Marazion to St Michael's Mount across the causeway but only at set times, we missed the morning cut off so jumped on a local boat which was only £2 each way.
We wandered around and checked out the gift shop, the settings were so pretty! We didn't go in the castle this time around as we were pushed for time but are planning to visit next year!
If you've ever watched Doc Martin then you'll recognise Port Isaac as Port Wenn from the show! I visited with my parents during our trip to Cornwall last year and it was one of my favourite places we visited; it's just so incredibly beautiful!
This year I was dying to take Ben and showing him the beauty of Port Isaac, we sat in a pub and ate scones and wandering around in the sunshine - it was BLISS! *Top tip* DO NOT EAT ICE CREAM OUTSIDE THE SEAGULLS ARE SO TERRIFYING AND WILL STEAL IT FROM YOU LOL #RIPMINTCHOCHIP!
We spent our last afternoon wandering around Mousehole; a cute seaside town recommended to us by our lovely neighbours! A lovely harbour with a few cute pubs; the perfect place to spend an hour or two exploring! *Top tip*: it's pronounced 'mow-sul' not 'mouse-hole'.
17.) Porthmeor Beach, St. Ives
Porthmeor Beach, St. Ives, TR26 2BN
I couldn't round this post off without speaking about one of my favourite places; Porthmeor beach, just a few minutes walk down the hill from Whistler's View - this beach really was SO dreamy! The sunsets over the beach (a sunset to rival Bali I have to say!), it's the perfect place to take a bottle of wine and a picnic blanket and watch the sunset over Cornwall!
Ben and I went for a wander one day and ended up lazing on the beach for a few hours just talking and laughing; it really was such a special afternoon - what more could you want when a beach this beautiful is on your doorstep?!
