21 Moments That Will Make You Instantly Want To Book A Trek America Trip!
Sharing 21 life changing experiences from my Trek America trip.. that will instantly make you want to books yours ASAP!
Sooooooo in case you guys didn't know, I did a Trek America trip (the Wester 2 your) at the end of May/beginning of June... LOLZ I JOKE - of COURSE you know as I haven't stopped banging on about it since, BUT with good reason as I can safely say it was the best two weeks of my LIFE! Before I went so many people were tweeting me saying that it would be the best thing EVER and how I'd have the best time, and although part of me knew I would, I coulnd't help but think 'is it REALLY going to be that amazing'... alas, it WAS! It was absolutely everything I'd hoped it would be and SO much more!
Trek is something I'd wanted to do since I was 16 years old, I know they run a blogger trip every year (I've always followed everyone's trips and they always look bloody wonderful), but I didn't want to travel with bloggers. I wanted to travel with non-bloggers, just people that had booked onto the trip as solo travellers to experience and incredible trip together, I'm so glad I done the trip this way as I've genuinely made 12 new friends for life who I know I'll stay in touch with. We honestly had the best group of people and it was such a wonderful mix, I felt like I could truly be myself and it felt so amazing to actually do the trip how I always wanted to, it was nice to just be 'me' not 'Frock Me I'm Famous' there was no chat of collaborations, or money, or emails, or Instagram just full blown banter and love the whole two weeks and I bloody LOVED it. Now I've finished gushing about the trip, let's talk about the highlights!...

1.) Eating pizza & watching the sunset at the Grand Canyon - This for me, was one of those ‘is this real life’ moments, our tour guide ordered 8 pizzas, we headed to the rim of the Canyon armed with ice cold beers, we all sat together in a row and watched the sunset. For me, that’s what life is about - sharing the most magical moments with friends, whilst eating pizza.. DREAMY AF.
2.) Making friends for life - I had to rank this high up because the people on my trip, made my trip the BEST I believe it could have ever been. Our group was just bloody wonderful, we were all so different it just worked. I swear we didn’t stop laughing the whole time (and drinking LOLZ), I came home with 12 friends for life that I know I’ll cross paths with in the future.
3.) Watching the Bellagio fountains - Oh, this is just the dream, no?! It’s one of those things that I’ve always wanted to watch and it was the very first thing we did on our night out in Vegas! We drove a party bus around Vegas (absolutely bloody hilarious I’m telling you!), then heading to the Bellagio to watch the fountains (well, we actually watched it 3 times because we were finishing up our alcohol LOL), it was just SO pretty!
4.) Driving route 66 - This is something I’ve wanted to do since I was SO young; driving on the infamous Route 66, it’s actually called the ‘historic Route 66’ now as there is only around .. that is still open to drive on. We stopped off in a town called Seligman for some lunch and a wander, we picked up some souvenirs and took our snaps (tourists much?), before hitting the road again. Definitely one to tick off the check list!
5.) Camping under the stars - We stopped at Lake Havasu for a night camping and it was SO incredibly hot so we all decided to leave our tents in the trailer and we just took our sleeping bags and pillows and slept under the stars. It was wonderful! Myself and two of the boys stayed up drinking but were ushered to bed (OOPS) around midnight, I was laying there like OMFG I need to discuss how bloody beautiful this is right now (the stars were insane as we were pretty much in the middle of nowhere), but I cherished the moment alone then caught some sleep!
6.) Watching the falls of Yosemite - I absolutely ADORED Yosemite, it was a massive trip highlight for me! I spent the day alone wandering the grounds of Yosemite as well as visiting Mirror Lake and the Lower Falls, it was so incredible to stand in front of the falls and really taking in it’s vastness and sheer beauty!
7.) Making Smores on the campfire - On our very first night camping we huddled around the camp fire and made Smores and WOW Y THEY SO GOOD THO?! For me that’s something I’d definitely associate with camping in America and I’m so glad we decided to live out our Smores dream (my jeans however are NOT thankful).
8.) Dancing until you have to be carried home - In San Fransisco we went out out and things went from 0-100, real quick, that’s all I’m saying! I won’t go into the story because I was the one drunk and disorderly (you can take a girl out of Essex and all that jazz), but we pretty much danced until our little feet couldn’t carry us home (or maybe that was the alcohol, but we’ll keep that between us haha!).
9.) Learning to be an outdoorsy person - Ask any of my friends/family and they’ll tell you that I’m just NOT an outdoorsy kinda gal, I’m always so clumsy, I’m crap at sport and I’m just not really that way inclined. Until now. Myself and my babe’in tent partner Stephanie leant to put up/take down our tent in literally 3 minutes, I was SO impressed! We camped for around 10 nights and I learnt to love living outdoors, goodbye Princess Hayley!
10.) Living out a Hangover moment in Vegas - Our first night in Vegas was probably one of the funniest nights out of my life; we rode around Vegas in a party bus, passing around a bottle of Jaeger and getting FAR too drunk. Once we’d watched the Bellagio fountains we decided to head to a club, but one of our dear group members was a tad too drunk - looking after him was just hilarious, we were all sending pictures in our group Whats App the next day to piece together the night before and I’ve never laughed so much in my life!
11.) Stepping outside of my comfort zone - I love solo travel, I’ve made no secret of that here over on FMIF; in fact I’m a massive advocate for travelling outside of your comfort zone but I have to admit I was so nervous to meet our group; I was so worried that no-one would like me or I wouldn’t get on with anyone but oh my god I had nothing to worry about, from the second I met everyone I just knew it was going to be the best trip ever! My advice to you; out of 13 people travelling, there’s always going to be someone you get on with so don’t stress it!
12.) Walking the Golden Gate bridge - The Golden Gate bridge was something that I’d wanted to see for SO long, unfortunately the notorious fog of San Fran (the locals have named it Carl as it’s always around), was kind of lurking so we didn’t get the *best view, we did however walk the bridge and spot several Whales below which was such a cool experience! I’d love to get a clear shot of the bridge on a bright day but it was still incredible to see!
13.) Nights around the campfire - Evenings around the campfire were probably some of my favourite; we’d play Cards Against Humanity (funniest game ever), swapped stories and just laughed the whole night (we *did end up drinking pretty much every single night, my body was so glad to be home haha!).
14.) Becoming the ultimate team player - The thing I love about Trek America (one of the 763276452978 things actually), is that you learn to be the ultimate team player, you’re paired into groups to cook, clean and wash up, but you find yourself constantly looking to see if everyone else is okay and if they need help. I love feeling a part of our little family during our trip!
15.) Visiting Alcatraz - I’ve wanted to visit Alcatraz for the longest time and it didn’t disappoint, it was honesty such an interesting visit! I just wish that I wasn’t suffering from the worst hangover of my life when I was visiting, but still it was SO worth the visit! If you go, definitely do the audio tour, it’s free and SO informative!
16.) Riding a helicopter over the Grand Canyon - This was actually the highlight of my trip for me! We watched both the sunset and sunrise over the Canyon as well as a 13 mile hike into the Canyon (which was INCREDIBLE but I legit nearly died it was SO hard on the way back up), but for me the helicopter ride has to be up there with the top 5 moments of my LIFE! The views of the Canyon were just unreal... an absolute MUST if you're visiting!
Taken from Plateau Point - 6 miles into the Canyon (there's a reason I didn't show my face in this picture haha, never been such a hot mess in my LIFE!)
17.) Watching the sunrise over the Grand Canyon - We woke up at 4.30am to watch the sunrise over the Canyon and it was magical! I set up my tripod so I could do a time lapse and it was honestly a morning I won’t ever forget… what better way to start a day (other than the 4.30am wakeup LOLZ).
18.) Calvin Harris pool party in Vegas - Calvin Harris… Pool Party… Las Vegas… does life get any better than that?! Four of us headed to Wet Republic at the MGM Grand for a day of partying to Calvin and sipping on giant Gin and Tonic cups - #LivingOurBestLives! I would definitely recommend a trip to Wet Republic (can be pricey but it’s so, so worth it) as they have some amazing DJ’s there! I’m already planning a trip back to Vegas with the girls next year and we’ve decided we’ll definitely be heading there to party!

19.) Exploring Santa Monica & Venice beach - Venice Beach is hands down the oddest place I've ever been, saying that, there is something oddly fascinating about it - it's something that you can't really explain but you have to simply experience it for yourself! Definitely take a walk from Santa Monica to Venice Beach (only around 20 minutes) if you're heading to the West Coast!
20.) Spotting 3 brown bears in Yosemite - After an incredible day spent at Yosemite we were driving back to our campsite when we spotted some cars had pulled over, our guide was all like ‘don’t get your hopes up but chances are it’s a bear’… not only was it a bear, but THREE brown bears! All of us were ecstatic and so incredibly lucky to see three together - our guide had seen brown bears before but never at Yosemite… best day ever!
21.) Having the BEST two weeks of my life - Oh god I already know I’m not going to stop talking about Trek America for the longest time, I fear that I’m turning into ‘this one time at band camp’ girl from American Pie LOL, so if you wanna go ahead an unfollow me then I promise I’m not offended but oh my god it actually was the BEST two weeks of my life and I’ll be recommending it to anyone and everyone! BOOK YOUR TREK AMERICA TRIP NOW BECAUSE IT WILL BE THE BEST THING YOU EVER DO, K?!?!
Andddddddd that's a wrap! God it's actually been EMOSH writing and putting this post together, looking through pictures and re-living some of the best moments of my life!
