12 Reasons Why You Won’t Get Bored In The Maldives; Discovering Kuramathi Island

The most IDYLIC island in the Maldives, welcome to Kuramathi! 12 reasons why you WON'T get bored in the Maldives!...

Kuramathi - 12Having just come back from a nine day trip to The Maldives (and could have easily done nine more), I’ve been SO excited to share my content with you all. It’s funny, before we went the most common thing said to me when I told people we were off to The Maldives was ‘I’d love to go but I’m worried I’ll/my partner will be bored’. It had never really occurred to me before that people might associate the Maldives with being boring, yes, you are on an island in the middle of the Indian Ocean, BUT every resort lays on so many wonderful activities and excursions you really are spoilt for choice.

Kuramathi, Maldives

Kuramathi being one of the largest islands in the Maldives at 1.6km, has 8 restaurants, sports activities, diving, marine centre amongst SO much more, let’s dive in together on why this could be THE resort for you...

Where? Kuramathi Maldives, Rasdhoo Atoll, Maldives

If you’re thinking of The Maldives for a honeymoon destination, looking to simply chill out for a week or two then The Maldives is ABSOLUTELY the destination for you! However if you’re someone that can’t lay in the sun reading countless books and relaxing, then fear not, I’m about to give you 21 reasons exactly WHY Kuramathi is your DREAM destination in The Maldives!...Kuramathi - 171.) Snorkelling Safari - During our stay at Kuramathi we booked onto a snorkelling safari trip on our first full day on the island, we spend 2 hours exploring the local marine life and spotted Turtle, Octopus, reef fish, white tip reef stars and much more! I would highly recommend booking onto a snorkelling trip in the Maldives, the coral and sea life are just stunning! Price - $48 PP (and worth every penny!).2.) Snorkelling around the island - If you don’t want to book on a snorkelling safari then why not grab some snorkelling equipment from the dive centre (included if you’re on the All Inclusive basis), and snorkel around the house reef. There are 8 different snorkel channels on the island which leaves you to some INCREDIBLE sea life, if there's one thing you do during your stay in the Maldives, you have to snorkel!Kuramathi - 23Kuramathi - 24Kuramathi - 22

3.) Spa treatments - Oh my god the spa at Kuramathi is L I F E! From the second we walked in I was just obsessed, from the lushest changing rooms I've *probably ever seen, to the outdoor treatment rooms and list of incredible treatments. Even if you're not a 'spa person' I'd definitely recommend having a spa treatment whilst in the Maldives, whether it's a massage, facial, scrub, wrap or pedicure.. indulge in a little R&R to complete the feeling of utter relaxation!

4.) Sandbank sunset - In all honesty, sunsets in the Maldives are like reason 276340983862 you NEED to visit! On our last night we took a walk down to the stunning sandbank on Kuramathi and watched the DREAMIEST of sunsets (we were actually so lucky as it was the best sunset we'd seen since we'd been there - what a treat for our last night!).  We spotted a couple that had taken a blanket and a bottle of Prosecco watching the sunset which is such a cute idea - if you visit I'd definitely do the same, for the ultimate romantic evening!

5.) 8 Restaurants - Yup, you heard that right... Kuramathi has 8 restaurants on the island which for me, is the biggest selling point for people who are worried they might 'get bored' - you can literally dine in a different restaurant every night/nearly every night depending on how long you're staying! From Thai to Indian, traditional Maldivian cuisine, island BBQ and many more - there really is something for everyone on Kuramathi, and if you're feeling like a night in? Don't worry as you can dine in your room/villa... all hail Kuramathi and their wonderful cuisine offerings!

6.) Exercise - Pfffft, this ones not for me gals but Ben went to the gym pretty much every day whilst we were away and loved it! Whilst I try to get myself to 4 classes per week back home, for me holidays are ALL about that relaxation life, so I could be found sunbathing of a morning or reading my book on the beach whilst Ben was sweating it out at the gym. If you're one that likes to stay active on holiday then this is another reason why Kuramathi is for you!

7.) Take a walk - As I mentioned previously in this post, Kuramathi is over 1.8km longs if you're one that feels the need to keep active, this is definitely for you! Take a leisurely walk everyday around the island and you won't feel 'claustrophobic' or bored as you may find on some of the smaller islands!

8.) Private beach BBQ - The resort also offers a beach BBQ which is super romantic if you're honeymooning or visiting for a special occasion (or just want to have a dead romantic meal on the beach for two! Speaking honestly when I say, nothing beats a private BBQ for two in the Maldives, it's LUSH!

9.) Educate yourself - One of the most impressive things about Kuramathi is that the island has it's very own eco centre, where you'll find the islands very own Marine Biologists on hand to share their knowledge, so not only can you enjoy snorkelling and other sea activities at the resort, but you can actually learn about what you'll be seeing and swimming with! The centre is super child friendly too - which is great to educate the wee nippers!

10.) Learn to dive - Kuramathi offers SSI and PADI diving courses, with some of the finest instructors in the Maldives and just a mere 8 metres from the Hammerhead Shark Point (one of the remaining few left in the world), this island really is THE place to go if you're looking to dive!

11.) Aqua Sports Centre - If everything listed above isn't enough to keep you entertained then it might be worth mentioning that the resort also offers an Aqua sports centre which caters to everything thing from paddle boarding, wind surfing, kayaking, catamaran sailing lessons and much more!

12.) RELAX - If you're a girl after my own heart then everything listed above is a wonderful bloody bonus but I'm ALL about that relaxation life on holiday, give me a good cocktail bar, a stack of summer reading and a pool/sea and I'm golden! I had the most RELAXING time at Kuramathi and couldn't recommend it anymore! If you're travelling with your other half/kids who love to cram in the activities then this resort is equally for you!
