Sharing 5 reasons why Anna Maria is the PERFECT destination for your next couples holiday!
Having recently returned from an incredible trip to the Bradenton Area in Florida (you can catch up on my '17 things to do in the Bradenton Area, Florida' HERE if you missed it!), I've been itching to share these posts with you all! I'm sure you guys would have seen my million stories raving about the destination, we just had the best time ever!
If you've not heard of the Bradenton Area (I hadn't before I went, but am know so, so glad it's on my radar - we're already planning to go back next year for a holiday!), it's on the West coast of Florida and is made up of Bradenton, Anna Maria Island and Longboat Key).
I wasn't really sure what to expect from our trip, but it exceeded any expectations I had, by MILES! It was so incredibly romantic, had a lovely laid back island vibe and all of the best parts of America, rolled into one!
Seeing as the trip was such a romantic hotspot for us, I thought I'd put together my top 5 reasons why Anna Maria Island (and the Bradenton Area), should be SERIOUSLY considered for your next romantic getaway!...
1.) Book a romantic villa with Anna Maria Vacations:
We were fortunate enough to stay in a BEAUTIFUL villa with Anna Maria Vacations during our trip and we adored it! We had four bedrooms, a heated pool, several balconies to watch the sunrise and sunset, and the beach was at the end of our road!
It was the PERFECT base for our time on Anna Maria to explore the Bradenton area, I just felt so happy there! Having our morning coffee on the balcony watching the sunrise just felt so magical - everything about the villa was stunning and it truly was a great spot to enjoy a romantic holiday together!
If you're looking to visit Anna Maria Island for a romantic break, then I couldn't recommend booking a villa through Anna Maria Vacations anymore - they have some incredible villas with beach front locations, pools and waterfront rentals!
2.) Enjoy a sunrise / sunset walk on the beach:
The sunrises and sunsets on Anna Maria Island really are something else! The picture to the left was taken just before sunset, at the stretch of beach that was at the end of the road we were staying in (imagine having those views / that beach right on your door step!).
For the first few days we were waking up super early because of jet lag so we'd watch the sunrise from our balcony or stroll along the beach and watch the morning light on the water (so beautiful!), of an evening we'd head back to the beach with our books and each other - there's something SO incredible romantic and magical about a sunset, enjoying it together was so special!
If you're heading to AMI for sunset - I'd recommend heading to Bean Point, a lesser known spot on the island but just so beautiful for sunset!
3.) Drive around in a Mustang convertable with Hertz:
Okay so first of all this car is just SEXY in itself - I mean LOOK AT IT! It's such a beautiful car and we both adored driving it (a great car to drive, super smooth!).
I have to say one of my favourite parts of the trip was just putting the roof down, grabbing some iced coffees and driving around the island together, it was so nice just taking our time and cruising around! I'll always cherish those moments we just drove around the island, feeling so relaxed and exploring a stunning destination!
The Ford Mustang is a part of the Hertz American Collection (would DEFINITELY recommend if you're looking to live out all of your American road trip dreams!), we booked a weeks car hire with Hertz from Tampa and it came to just over £200 - bargain!!
4.) Go dolphin watching:
We were lucky enough to spot dolphins on two separate occasions whilst on Anna Maria Island (doesn't get much more romantic than that does it?!). The first time we were on a boat trip for the morning with Paradise Boat Tours, we spent two hours cruising around Sarasota Bay dolphin and bird watching with our captain Jake and Phil - it was such a great morning!
The second time we spotted dolphins we were a touch closer to them as we were kayaking with Beach Bums! It was so surreal kayaking with dolphins swimming along side and playing with us - I just loved seeing them in their natural habitat!
5.) Explore the beaches on Anna Maria Island & Longboat Key:
On our last day we spent the morning exploring the BEAUTIFUL beaches on Anna Maria Island and Longboat Key and WOW I've never quite seen anywhere like it!
The sand is just so incredible white and the sea so blue - it looks like a screen saver! We'd saved down to visit beer can island, a spot well worth checking out - the tree have fallen into the sand / sea and it just makes for the most picturesque backdrop!
We spent the morning strolling along the beach, watching the waves and exploring the coast - it really is a MUST if you're exploring the Bradenton Area!
It would be a great spot for a romantic sunset picnic or to watch the sunrise, we loved that spot and will head back next year when we visit again, it's stunning!
