How To: Create a DIY Festive Wreath This Christmas With Dulux

Getting festive and creating a DIY Christmas wreath using Dulux paints!

Dulux Christmas Wreath - 21

I've always loved getting creative, it's the one thing I miss the most since leaving Uni so I always try to paint or stay creative when I can (especially when I'm having a creative block or spending too much time online!).

If you guys caught my last DIY post: 6 DIY Pumpkin Decor Ideas, you'll have seen that I used Dulux roller tester pots to paint my pumpkins, so this post is a SUPER exciting one for me as I've actually partnered up with Dulux to get creative again!

They challenged me to get creative with their new Christmas paint collection and I couldn't wait to get started! After having a browse on Pinterest I decided that I was going to make a Christmas wreath; like the pumpkins I wanted it to be something that was easy for you guys to make, and also cheap too!

I picked up the foam wreath ring from Wilko for just £3.50 (!!), and the pine cones were from Wilko too (they come in a pack of four for £1, I picked up five packs so had 20 in total). Of course you can collect pine cones from the woods to keep cost down, the reason I bought these ones was because they had a wire attachment which made them easier to paint and insert into the wreath base!

I'm going to talk you guys through this super easy, step by step to making your own beautiful wreath this Christmas with Dulux!

What you'll need:

1.) Wilko 10in wreath ring - £3.50

2.) Wilko Pinecones - four per pack - £1 (I picked up five packs so I had 20 pinecones)

3.) Wilko frosted berries - £1 (6 per pack, I just used one pack)

4.) Wilko glitter Eucalyptus - £1.50 (I used one pack)

5.) Wilko frosted snow bells - £1.50 (I used two packs)

6.) Dulux paint pots - pick your colours of choice! I used the following five shades; Love Letter, Storm Day, Auburn Flame, Spicy Paprika and Velvet Cake.

7.) Paint brushes, scissors and some ribbon to hang your wreath up (or pick up a wreath hook, I got mine from The Range).

Step 1: paint your pinecones!...

I picked out the following five shades from the new Dulux festive range:

Love Letter (off white)

Storm Day (dark green)

Auburn Flame (lighter orange/peach)

Spicy Paprika (brighter orange)

Velvet Cake (dark red)

The first step was to paint my pinecones, I opted for these five shades from the new range as I thought they all worked really well together and looked super Christmas-y! You could definitely creative this wreath with just 1-2 colours if you'd like, or as many as you like - that's the fun part, you can pick and choose exactly what colours you want to include!

step 2: decorate your wreath!...

Now it's time for the fun part - to decorate your wreath!

Once you've painted your pinecones (I'd recommend leaving them a good few hours / overnight to make sure they've dried properly).

Then cut up your faux eucalyptus / plant of choice, and start to build up your wreath by layering up the pine cones and berries.

I tried to make sure I distributed the colours out so it looked fairly even, then made sure I was breaking up the colours with both the berries and the bramble.

You can keep your wreath minimal or build it up as much as you like, and voila it's doneTo complete your wreath just tie some ribbon around the top so you can hang it up!

There we have it gang - my DIY Christmas wreath making post using the Dulux festive paints; it was super easy to make and dead affordable too! It's nice to hang something on your door that you've made, as a little reminder of your creative efforts - I can't wait to put mine up!

What do you think of this DIY wreath? Will you be giving this idea a whirl? Will you be using the same Dulux paints as me or opting for different shades?
