So, don’t judge me but I have something to tell you all…

A couple of months back before Christmas, I’d just returned from a trip in the sunshine and headed to the salon to get my hair coloured. The lovely stylist was washing my hair and turned to me and asked ‘do you actually condition your hair?’.

Oh my god I was so mortified. Having bleached/coloured hair and being in the sun a fair bit I’ve always known that I need to give my hair a little more TLC, but then it hit me that I wasn’t *quite looking after my hair as much as I needed to.

I put it down to being in the sun and promised myself to take better care of my hair from that moment on. That’s when the Paul Mitchell Instant Moisture range entered my life (and has been my travel companion / hair saviour / best friend ever since!).

I was sent this range to trial just after Christmas and have been using it once a week to re-hydrate my hair and even packed it to Thailand with me as it truly is the perfect travel companion for my hair; leaving it feeling hydrated and rejuvenated!

I’ve been using the Instant Moisture Daily Shampoo and Conditioner once a week to restore my hair, I follow up my hair wash with the Super-Charged Moisturizer as I can run that through the bleached ends of my hair to add some extra nourishment and moisture! The Awapuhi Moisture Mist has been a hero product for me and I’ve been using it after every hair wash (regardless of the shampoo), it’s great to spritz through the ends for instant hydration (can’t get enough of this product so far!), and priced at just £10.95 for 250ML – this is the product that’s won me over in terms of longevity and value for money!

FYI – Awapuhi; also know as Hawaiian Ginger; has been used as a moisturizing cleanser by native Hawaiians for hundreds of years thanks to its moisturizing and shine enhancing properties, and you can now add it into your hair care routine in with the Awapuhi Moisture Mist product – YAY!

Along with using the Paul Mitchell Instant Moisture range (absolute FAV), I thought I’d put together my top five tips on how to keep your hair hydrated whilst travelling (and avoid those embarrassing trips to the hairdressers!). It’s time I loved my hair more, and if you need to as well then I hope you find these tips useful!...

1.) Stay hydrated – Sounds like the most obvious thing to state, right?! BUT it’s SO easy to become dehydrated when you’re in the sun, it’s essential that you drink lots of water, the recommended daily amount is 4 litres but I would try to go for 5/6 litres if you’re in the sun all day. Your body will always take the water it needs to stay hydrated which sadly means your hair and skin won’t be a priority and can become dry! So, moral of the story – drink LOTS!

2.) Add the Instant Moisture Shampoo & Conditioner to your haircare routine – Like I mentioned above, I’ve been using the Instant Moisture Shampoo & Conditioner once a week since receiving the products to restore some moisture into my hair, I also took the products to Thailand with me; to help my hair combat the 30 degree temperatures and quite frankly – the whole range was a life saver!

3.) Use a deep treatment – Damaged hair (hi, hello that’s me), can seriously benefit from regularly using a deep treatment and during my trip the Super Charged Moisturizer product was my favourite! I would apply a generous amount to my hair (mainly the ends as they’re bleached) 2/3 times during my trip for a deep condition and to add some serious hydration! Another great tip is to wrap your hair in a towel once you’ve applied the treatment to your hair to lock in the moisture, if you’re doing this from home then pop a damp towel into the microwave for 60 seconds to deepen the treatment!

4.) Add daily hydration – I absolutely loved spritzing the Awapuhi Moisture Mist into my hair after every wash and could really notice a difference from using this product! For me this product is the hero as it’s affordable, quick and easy to use and you can see instant results by adding this into your haircare routine!

5.) Don’t wash your hair everyday – Again, this might be another obvious point, but try not to wash your hair everyday. If you can, wash it every 2/3 days – your hair will produce natural oils that your hair needs to nourish and repair itself, if you’re washing it everyday then you’re stripping your hair of all those good oils!
