10 Reasons To Visit The Cayman Islands
Sharing my top 10 reasons why the Cayman Islands needs to be on your travel bucket list... ASAP!
Last weekend I arrived back from the most MAGICAL week in the Cayman Islands, exploring what the beautiful islands of Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman had to offer... and boy it was a LOT! I absolutely ADORE the carribean, I love the people, the vibe and just well, everything! So let me share with you exactly WHY you need to be adding the Cayman Islands to your travel bucket list ASAP!...
1.) Take a trip to Stingray city - We visited Stingray city on our first full day on Grand Cayman and it was bloody MAGICAL! I am SO scared of the ocean and was really proud of myself for getting in and swimming/petting the rays (even if I did freak out and have to get out after about 20 minutes LOL!). Whether you're in with the rays or watching from the boat, this is an experience you won't ever forget!
2.) Ride horses along the beach and into the sea - This just had to come second, as along with stingray city - my other favourite part of our trip was the horse rides! We spent the morning riding horses (it was my second time I'd ever ridden a horse and I was terrified haha!), along the beach, we then de-saddled the horses and got on bareback (SO flipping' hard to stay on I'm telling you!), and rode them into the sea... where they started SWIMMING! It was such a surreal/incredibl moment but one that I will treasure for a lifetime!
3.) Book a sunset cruise - On our third evening we booked onto a sunset cruise and we were blessed with the most INSANE sunset, we sipped on prosecco and watched the sun go down whilst having girly catch ups... the perfect evening on Grand Cayman!
4.) Visit the Cayman Crystal Caves - We spent a morning exploring the Cayman Crystal Caves and I have to say it was absolutely incredible! I've only ever been to caves once before in my life and was blown away by the sheer beauty and length of time that they've been developing! If you're visiting Grand Cayman then I would 10000000% recommend a trip to the Crystal Caves!
5.) Have Sunday brunch at the Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort - Similar to America, brunch in the Cayman Islands is a BIG deal and I'm absolutely A-OK with that! On Sunday morning we got dressed up and headed downstairs to enjoy Sunday brunch at the Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort and OHMIGOD it was AMAZING! There was literally every item of food/drink that you could ever want/wish for! An absolute MUST if you're visiting Grand Cayman, round up the girls or you partner and enjoy a leisurely brunch!
6.) Take a trip to rum point - Rum point is a popular spot on Grand Cayman where you can enjoy lively music, incredible food, rum punch and the most incredible view and atmosphere! We stopped off at rum point one day for lunch (which OBV involved some jerk chicken and rum punch.. I could get used to this Caribbean life!). I would definitely check out rum point if you're looking for a lively spot with some incredible, authentic Caribbean food!
7.) Stay/visit/dine/spa at the incredible Kimpton Seafire Resort - The Kimpton Seafire Resort is the newest hotel on Grand Cayman (and actually the prettiest in my V honest opinion!). We were lucky enough to spend an incredible afternoon/evening at the Seafire resort, we were treated to full body massages (the PERFECT post horse-riding treatment!), followed by sunbathing in the cabanas by the lush pool, before getting ready for an evening of cocktails and amazing food at Avecita! I can't recommend the Kimpton Seafire Resort enough; whether you're looking for somewhere to stay during your trip, or even if you're looking for a great restaurant/spa to visit - the Kimpton Seafire Resort is your go-to!
8.) Drive around Cayman Brac - During our overnight stay on Cayman Brac we had the most wonderful tour guide/driver/local called Keenan who very kindly showed us the hotspots around the island! The island itself isn't that big so I would definitely recommend looking into hiring someone to take you around - we saw so many beautiful points of the island and it felt like we really got to see a lot during our short stay there!
9.) Take a farm tour at Le Soleil d'Or Hotel - If you decide to visit Cayman Brac then firstly I recommend you stay at Le Soleil d'Or - it's the most INCREDIBLE boutique hotel (we shared a beach house and it was so stunning!), one thing that I absolutely LOVED about the hotel was the farm, the hotel grows all it's own fruit, veg and herbs and we were treated to a tour around the farm (where we ate all the local fruits along the way) - a must!
10.) Visit Little Cayman - We spent just one night on Little Cayman and the only way I can actually describe it is HEAVEN ON EARTH! My god that place is absolutely STUNNING, a sheer paradise with just 197 people living on the island (they still manage to host a weekly showing of GoT season 7 which I've got a LOT of time for!). There isn't much to do on the island other than snorkel/scuba dive, relax and drink which is partly why I loved it so much! Definitely book a stay on Little Cayman to get in some well deserved R&R!
That's the first of my Cayman Island blog posts (stay tuned for plenty more - sorry in advance for the spam but it's just TOO good not to share!), I also have a blog going live soon too so make sure you're subscribed to my channel HERE to catch it!
Have you ever visited the Cayman Islands before? What did you get up to during your trip? Is it somewhere you could see yourself going on holiday?
*A HUGE thank you to the wonderful Cayman Islands tourism board & Rose for an amazing trip, and to Sinead, Jamie & Bonnie for the wonderful company!
