Discovering One Of The BEST Restaurants In London! #GotItOnGumtree
Discovering the best fusion-style British-Asian cuisine in London and revealing the incredible back story!
Listen up gals... there's a new kid on the block - it's a DELICIOUS British-Asian fusion restaurant that OHMIGOD you need to know about. And try. And get yourself booked into ASAP! I was invited down to a wonderful evening at 108 Garage last week, fresh of the Eurostar from Paris and my expectations were not let down! We were treated to a DIVINE five-course meal, and we were also lucky enough to meet the restaurant owener, Luca and hear all about the restaurants back story (which is super exciting!), let's dive into WHY you need to know about 108 Garage! *Disclaimer: do NOT read this post whilst hungry!...
The story: Luca, the restaurants founder set up 108 Garage initially to serve Italian tapas, but the menu actually took a complete different route once head chef; Chris Denney joined the restaurant. BUT, where did Luca found Chris?! Well, that's the fun part of the story! Luca put out an ad on Gumtree for a chef “ready to sail on a new adventure in Notting Hill” and Chris applied, they got on really well and before you know it 108 Garage was on a V exciting culinary adventure. I absolutely LOVED this concept as who bloody knew you could apply for jobs/find wonderful staff on Gumtree?! Not me, that's for sure! I've just had a quick gander and they have over 84,000 jobs available in the UK alone.. WOW! Luca was explaining to us how great it is for specialist roles such as chef work; take a look at the many roles on offer here!
The location: Situated just a stone throw from Ladbroke Grove station, it's in an 'uber-cool' part of London and I have to say that the restaurant fits in just perfectly. As soon as I walked in I was swooning over the authentic, cool decor! Oh, and if you're wondering where the name came from, then 108 Garage *actually used to be a garage!! Hence the cool pipe work and garage feel to the joint, amazing huh?!
The food: Lucas' original vision was very different from Chris's but put his faith in Chris and was happy to let him evolve the menu into fusion-style British-Asian cuisine, which I can confirm.. is BLOODY DELICIOUS! We were treated to a wonderful 5-course tasting menu (only £38 per head which I found super reasonable considering the restaurants reviews and reputation!).
How stunning is that decor though?! The restaurant has a super homely/cosy feel!
Have you ever heard of/visited 108 Garage before? Is this somewhere you could see yourself dining? Ever found your job on Gumtree or know someone who has?
